Entering The Passive Investment Arena

I am going to cautiously dip my toe into the passive investment arena. I want to make my passive internet income (through this blog and other outlets) work harder, so I am going to be investing a hefty portion of that income into passive investments. To begin, I will choose one investment vehicle off of my list, getting really comfortable with the investment, automate money going into it, and then move on to the next vehicle on my checklist.
Right now I only have three different vehicles on my checklist, and I may decide to scrap one or two altogether. I am going to start small in each investment with only $50 per month until I can get a good feel for whether or not it’s a good match. If the investment is in fact a good match then I will start funneling a greater amount into it each month.
Here’s my short list:
- Dividend stocks via a DRIP- I’m not sure which company to start with, any suggestions? I was thinking about Wal-Mart.
- EFT’s- I haven’t read a ton about this yet, but that’s about to change, I’m ghostwriting a book on EFT’s, so I’ll be an expert in a few days.
- Microloans- I’m actually really excited about this one. It’s trendy, quirky and cool all wrapped up into a really good return on my money. I may even tackle this one first, just for fun. I will definitely be reporting back on my experience.
Let me know if you have any suggestions for me, this is a totally new frontier, as all of my previous investing has been via a 401K and Roth IRA.
